PuppyStar™ I:
Open Enrollment Puppy Class

When should my puppy start?
Puppies can start their first class between 10-12 weeks. Puppies should have received a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming, but ideally your pup will have received two sets of vaccinations by 10-12 weeks. They should be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class. This will be discussed, in depth, in our human-only orientation. Call ASAP to get started!

Using managed off-leash play instruction, this unique class offering will teach owners how to establish, build and maintain off-leash, verbal control against heavy distractions with their puppies from early puppyhood, allowing for a healthy and balanced relationship - from the start - and for years to come. Meanwhile, the play training allows socialization and bite inhibition opportunities for a young puppy in its critical socialization period. This approach to training young puppies affords us, as responsible dog owners, the highest level of fear and aggression prevention in the adolescent or adult dog.

This is a 6-week open enrollment puppy class course that includes a FREE seminar for new puppy owners "PuppyStar JUMP START™. The open enrollment feature allows for a greater convenience for new puppy owners to begin their 6-week socialization and training curriculum at any given week, thus, puppies are not missing out on imperative socialization opportunities while waiting for another block of 6-week classes to begin.

Throughout the duration of the class, we will cover the three main areas of raising a behaviorally sound puppy:

  1. Socialization (including managed play)
  2. Problem prevention and early solutions
  3. Basic foundational obedience

While each class will cover a different topic, every class involves the same theme-based instruction with a large focus on:

  • Owner focus and relaxation among real-world distractions;
  • Socialization;
  • Basic Training Protocol (Reinforcing appropriate behaviors without reinforcing negative behaviors);
  • Basic Obedience (Sit, down, stay, recall (come!), leash-walking); and
  • Weekly Challenges

Classes take place on Saturdays 9am-10am at the KBDT Training Field in Round Rock (a puppy-safe outdoor environment).
